How long have you been on this weight loss journey?  In June I changed my diet and started losing weight. In August I joined Men’s Bootcamp at LiveFit to continue losing weight and add muscle.

Weight Loss/Inches: 35 lbs

What was your “low point”? I have always been conscious of my weight, meaning I have watched it go up and down. I wrestled all through high school so it is forever burned in my brain to keep the weight down. But being older and being busy makes it harder to stay at it. Our girls have been a huge motivation for me. Trying to keep up with them, running around the yard, jumping on the trampoline or riding bikes with them was leaving me out of breath. (Also, steadily feeling my pants get tighter is never good.)

I also have severe psoriatic arthritis that I battle everyday. When I first changed my diet I was taking 2 shots a week to help keep pain and inflammation down. Now that I have changed the way I eat and work out on a regular basis I am down to 1 shot every two and a half weeks!

How did you get started? LiveFit has been a topic of conversation in our home since 2013. That is when my wife, Rachel, joined LiveFit and won the Biggest Loser competition. Since then, she has been with LiveFit. After coming to one of Adina’s bootcamps when my wife first started I walked away with a lot of respect and a sore body. I guess I just wasn’t ready to commit so I always told Rachel if they offered a men’s bootcamp I would sign up. I’m so glad that Josh came along and joined the LiveFit team. It was the perfect timing for me to push myself. He has created a program that will challenge you the entire class, pushing every rep to exhaustion.

What is your workout routine and eating plan? I work out at Men’s Bootcamp 3x a week (Mon, Wed and Sat mornings). I try to fit in other days at the gym if time allows. I also enjoy running when I can. I recently completed the Greenline 1/2 marathon with a fellow LiveFitter, Jason McElhaney. As far as my diet, I just do the best I can. I try to keep my portions low and drink tons of water. No more snickers and Dr. Pepper all the time like before! But yes, I will have those cheat snacks and meals here and there. I will continue to push myself physically so I feel like a small “reward” here and there is not a bad thing. (I still have a sweet tooth like no other though!)

What are your top 3 favorite resources that helped you along the way?

1. My wife Rachel. She was the resource that brought working out back into my life and is always willing to listen to me and give me support when needed.

2. Josh and the LiveFit guys. Always great to wake up early and actually look forward to pushing some weight around with the guys. It’s a great group of guys, always pushing harder and harder to get that much stronger. Working out with these guys (like Jason and Ryan) is extremely motivating. Like Josh says, we make every rep count.

3. Bodybuilding.com Just reading through different articles to pick up tips and tricks that can help me in any way.

What one piece of advice would you give to someone who is sitting on the sidelines and waiting? Don’t wait another day! Get out there and run, jump rope, lift weights!
Do whatever makes you happy and feel better about yourself. Not only is being healthy good for your body, it’s incredibly good for your mind. After a good workout I feel more clear headed through the day and ready to accomplish everyday goals.

What one piece of advice would you give to someone who is in the process but is feeling discouraged? There are good days and there are bad days. Just take each one in stride and know you will be back the next day to try again! Don’t give up! A one hour workout is only 4% of your entire day, you and I both can give it all we have got for that one hour!

Good luck!
