{Your Story}

What inspired you to start a career in fitness? I started teaching Kickboxing in 1998 and fell in love with watching people grow in strength and confidence. Over the years, my passion became to help others find a JOY in working out. For me it’s not able helping someone reach a certain size, but to help them meet goals they never thought possible, build confidence in who they are and to feel comfortable in their own skin.

What do you love about your job? I love PEOPLE!!! I love the encouragement, love, support and gratitude that is given to me to those who come to my class or who are in the running group. Each kind word means the world to me. I find so much JOY in being a part of such a special community.

What is your favorite workout to do on your own? Running. Shocker. LOL

What do you enjoy doing in your spare time? As odd as it sounds my spare time is usually spent planning and training for race goals I’ve set for myself. So….WHY do I train for the race? Why should you train for the race? There is something about training for an endurance race that makes me face things I avoid; push my body to go beyond what is comfortable; purges me of negative head trash; and in the end, I become a better version of who I was when I started the journey. I often spend my runs reflecting on the past people and experiences that have gotten me to this point in my life. People that have taught me true strength and courage in the midst of life’s storms. I spend time thanking God for each one of these things that have lead me to this moment….even the times that seemed so hard….were often just blessings in disguise teaching me endurance and perseverance. The hard times and strong influences in my life have given me the courage to train and to run the race before me. I also begin to run for a purpose….the people in my life that can’t run….the people in my life that have poured love into me and given me the confidence to know that I CAN do ALL things through Christ!

What one piece of advice would you give to someone who is on a journey to lose weight, but feeling discouraged? Losing weight is about being healthy and not about a number on a scale or a pants size. Your best weight is whatever weight you reach when you’re living the healthiest life you actually enjoy.
