How long have you been on this weight loss journey? With LiveFit since March 2016
Weight Loss/Inches: I’m at least 20 pounds down from my heaviest, and several inches – I’m not sure of the exact numbers!
What was your “low point”? I’ve struggled with my weight all of my life. After my third child, I lost down to my pre pregnancy weight after a few weeks, but then quickly regained it, plus more.
How did you get started? I tried to start on my own, but just watching what I ate. I even visited a “diet doctor” and took diet pills. I felt awful and I knew I had to do something different. My friend Christy Lee talked me into joining her in the Biggest Loser Challenge in March 2016. I was hooked once I started working out. I feel so much better, have more energy and confidence, and am just happier now!
What is your workout routine and eating plan? I work out at least 3 times a week at LiveFit. I have also started running 2-3 times a week. My eating plan includes lean protein, veggies, fruits and healthy carbs most of the time (we won’t discuss the rest of the time!).
What are your top 3 favorite resources that helped you along the way?
1.) LiveFit instructors! They make me feel like I can do anything, and they do not judge!
2.) My family, especially my husband who cooks for me!
3.) Having an accountability buddy. My friend Christy got me started with this, and there have been many days that I showed up only because she would be there! She is moving from Arlington, so I’m not sure what I’ll do without her!
What one piece of advice would you give to someone who is sitting on the sidelines and waiting? I read an article by Kristin Armstrong that said it best. “You are never ready, just show up. Showing up doesn’t mean you are ready, it means you are willing. Showing up is the process that yields the outcome. Just keep showing up!”
What one piece of advice would you give to someone who is in the process but is feeling discouraged? Change up what you are doing, try a new class, eat a new food, do something for yourself. Little things can help motivate you. And remember, this is a life style, don’t let this cause you stress, just try to be the best you!
Anything else you would like to share? I’m not skinny, there are many people who are more fit than I am, but for the first time I feel confident. I no longer worry about losing the most weight, I want to be stronger, and feel comfortable in my own skin. Being at LiveFit has helped me change my mindset.
