Age: 31 years old

Profession: Mom to three young girls

How long have you been on this weight loss journey? 6 months

Weight Loss: 20 pounds – and still losing!

What was your “low point”? After I had my third daughter last February, I knew it was time to get into shape to be an example for my children and to be a healthier me. I was tired of being tired all the time, struggling to find clothes that fit, and just ready to make a change.

How did you get started? I had a huge goal: to complete the St. Jude Half Marathon in December of 2012. I started walking/running with my dear friend throughout the summer. Then when school started, we decided to try LiveFit Bootcamp and we began the Rock Your Jeans challenge. The challenge was just what I needed to jump start my weight loss goals.

What is your workout routine and eating plan? My workout routine consisted of going to bootcamp 2 to 3 times a week to the 5:15 am classes. It was a struggle getting up at 4:30 each time, especially since I was still getting up with a young baby who was still nursing quite frequently. Surprisingly, you get used to waking up early and it became “normal” to get up early to work out.

My eating plan wasn’t anything special. I didn’t want to make drastic changes to my diet since I am nursing, but I made an effort to cut back on the “bad stuff” and the quantity of things I was eating.

What are your top 3 favorite resources that helped you along the way?

The top resources to help me along were my children who hold me accountable each day by asking me if I went to bootcamp and what did I learn, the bootcamp instructors who keep me constantly motivated and encouraged, and my best friend, Melissa, who has been amazing to me throughout this whole process and I would have never started this journey without her.

What one piece of advice would you give to someone who is sitting on the sidelines and waiting?

As crazy as this may sound, LiveFit bootcamp is truly addicting. Not only to feel better about yourself, but you make some amazing friends. Whenever you take a break from going, you can tell how much it affects your mood and your body. I can always tell if I have taken too many days off. Even my husband will tell me, it is time for me to go back. I believe it is an amazing source of therapy!

What one piece of advice would you give to someone who is in the process but is feeling discouraged?

Find a friend! I feel that none of this would have been possible without my best friend. Melissa is my constant encouragement and my accountability partner. We work together to make ourselves go when we are feeling down and we NEVER regret it once we get there at 5:15 in the morning!

If you are a parent, how have you balanced everything?

I choose the 5:15 am class. I am sure a lot of people say NO WAY to going that early, but that is MY time. My kids and husband are home sleeping while I slip out of the house to spend an hour on me. I don’t have to worry about a babysitter or anything. I know everyone is just snoozing away while I take some time for ME. Plus I feel like I am being an example to my children on how to set aside time for themselves to become more active. My girls love for me to show them “bootcamp moves” and I will find them playing “bootcamp” with their friends.

Anything else you would like to share?

I never imagined that by starting LiveFit bootcamp that I would transform my life and my body. Who knew that 6 months of commitment could provide these kind of results. I feel like a better, healthier, happier me!
